HERstory: In Honor of Women’s History Month WOMEN IN WRITING

Debbie Allen proudly presents HERstory: in honor of Women’s History Month, a month-long celebration of the power of women. Showcasing a rich collection across fine arts, film, music, dance, and fashion, HERstory transcends perspectives as this celebration documents a diversity in heritage that parallels identity, femininity and the connection of our inner and outer worlds.

Join us March 26th as we conclude our month-long celebration with a premier book reading, conversation and signing by acclaimed author Rachel Cargle and Debbie Allen. This book serves as an insightful testament to the power of reimagining the systems we face as women in our herstory.

DOORS: 7pm
READING BEGINS: 7:30PM

This event is all ages and open to the public. Upon arrival ALL guests will receieve a complimentary book courtesy of the publisher Penguin Random House, suggested donations of $10 will be collected.

Rachel Elizabeth Cargle is an activist, entrepreneur, and philanthropic innovator. She is founder of The Loveland Group; a family of companies including Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre, a literary space that celebrates marginalized voices and The Great Unlearn, an community learning space that centers the teaching of BIPOC thinkers. In 2018, she founded The Loveland Foundation, offering free access to mental health care for Black women and girls. Cargle is a regular contributor to Cultured MagazineAtmos, and The Cut, and her work has been featured in Time MagazineThe Washington PostThe New York Times, and The New Yorker. Her debut memoir A Renaissance of Our Own published with Penguin Random House May 2023 with the paperback releasing March 26th, 2024.*

This event is all ages. All attendees must reserve a ticket in advance. Debbie Allen Dance Academy is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that offers a comprehensive dance curriculum to students ages four and up. With an extensive outreach and influence in communities broadening to all depths of the artistic process, DADA is proud to serve as a creative epicenter of the arts in our new home, Rhimes Performing Arts Center.
